This presentation focuses on a study on the implementation of a writing program based on the recommendations of BPM. This programme was implemented in early 2017 in a law subject at the University of Wollongong. This research found that lawyers could be challenged by adhering to good practices, but that good practices can improve student performance, especially those who have not traditionally been admitted to law school. He also notes that students respond positively when a law school adheres to good practices to support and develop their students` writing. Predictive analytics, biometrics, automated credibility scores and algorithmic decision-making are analyzed in terms of “risk and potential” measured in terms of “fair, efficient and effective” RSA. The potential of AI for efficiency and effectiveness in SCA is compelling. Faster data processing, the ability to take on high-volume, repetitive tasks, increased consistency and up-to-date information, the ability to plan workloads and predict movements, and the ability to “design” existing biases promise positive outcomes for asylum seekers. But the risks associated with integrating AI into a decision-making process defined by human vulnerability are great. Lack of transparency in algorithms can lead to a denial of procedural fairness, and algorithmic bias remains an annoying problem. If refugees and human rights are violated, international protection can be compromised.
Technical and contextual issues can increase the risk of error, and unanswered questions about legality remain. UOW Law School is known for a variety of progressive research in the areas of law and society, transnational law, and criminal law. Human vulnerability is at the heart of refugee status determination (RSD), and human rights provide their regulatory framework, so to speak, AI in the refugee context may seem worrisome, at worst dystopian. But the rapid development of AI in government decision-making is unlikely to be slowed down by such ethical difficulties. The potential integration of automation, machine learning and algorithmic decision-making into global migration regulation and policy has profound implications for refugee law and the consequences for efficiency, legality, accountability, transparency and human rights require a timely and critical conversation about the potential impact of existing and future AI technologies on RSD. TLPC creates opportunities for sustainable and ethical development, implementation and dissemination of transnational laws and policies. Through interdisciplinary research that leverages the ideas, innovations and collective strengths of global networks, challenges to the UN SDGs are pursued to embrace and drive change. The overall goal of this research is to develop an understanding of retirement for people over the age of 75. We know who “stops” driving, but there is a lack of evidence on how best to help seniors plan for retirement.
Looking at research from an interdisciplinary perspective means breaking down the boundaries of traditional disciplines, especially law, in order to gain new ideas and perspectives. Our methods assume that knowledge of law is inextricably linked to a range of sometimes competing or contradictory discourses such as philosophy, religion, history, feminism and critical theory, art, theatre, media, cultural studies, sociology, government and politics. Abstract: Belinda will present the UN SDGs and their impact on all sectors, including higher education, research and governance. It will present the sustainable development networks signed by the University and the Faculty of Economics and Law and discuss how they can open up opportunities for cooperation. Sandy`s research examines the extent to which Australian law schools are following the GPG`s recommendations regarding the implementation of TLO 5 with respect to law student writing, and examines the experiences of students and lawyers regarding the implementation of a drafting support model based on the GPG`s recommendations. This research is based on an understanding of student writing in higher education (“HE”), supported by an academic literacy framework (“AcLits”).
AcLits situates student writing in higher education as a discipline-specific sociocultural practice and not as a generic, autonomous skill that can be learned independently of subject content and then easily transferred to other contexts. This legal research guide is based on material from the following books. These are excellent resources for learning more about legal research: two key aspects of our research are social justice and litigation in the public interest, often focusing on the relationship between the law and vulnerability and pluralism. Social justice projects aim to change the law and address social injustices, with real impacts such as better protection for women survivors of domestic violence, measures to reduce economic inequalities, legal reforms to recognize indigenous knowledge, and fairer treatment of asylum seekers in accordance with international human rights law. Public interest litigation refers to litigation aimed at serving the public interest, usually by contributing to systemic legal and societal changes in areas where the law does not serve the interests of the judiciary. Abstract: Today`s Australian law students come from diverse backgrounds and bring with them a variety of previous learning experiences. Despite the importance of writing for success in law school and the recognized need to support the academic education of law students from “non-traditional” backgrounds, the question of how law student writing should be supported and developed has not been extensively researched in Australia. Take a look at this chart and see what steps you need to follow to start researching your task. In addition to our strong research activity, the Faculty of Law provides a dynamic and interdisciplinary context for postgraduate studies with high-level research institutions and great opportunities for peer interaction. Students participate in cutting-edge transnational, creative and critical legal and policy research and have close access to academic leaders in relevant disciplinary fields. Note: This presentation is part of the research project “South America in the Asian Century: An Examination of China`s and Japan`s Economic Engagement in the Region”.
The project was funded by the Institute of Developing Economies of the Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO). The pledge was conceived as an important symbolic message to students that their legal careers begin on the day they enter law school.
