My summer internship at Louis Vuitton was second to none and gave me a comprehensive introduction to the dynamic field of intellectual property. I look forward to using my experience as a platform in the coming year to further address anti-counterfeiting and intellectual property issues in my courses. And while I may no longer have my morning train ride to New York looking for fakes, I`ll continue to look for imitations in Washington, DC on my daily commute to GW Law. Find your next internship, apprenticeship or VIE in one of our Extraordinary Homes and enjoy a rewarding work experience: the morning commute to New York is entertaining – a prelude to the upcoming workday and a topic of office conversation. The morning drive to my internship this summer was particularly entertaining as it was a kind of game. From Bowling Green to 59th Street, I scanned my crowded wagon until I found what I was looking for. Then I would almost instinctively tick off my checklist: alignment? Examine. Sewing? From. Dye? Not even close. False? Probably.
A few stops and countless handbags later, my game of inspecting fake Louis Vuitton handbags on train 4 ended and I headed to Madison Avenue, where an exchange of counterfeit commuters would fuel the morning conversation at Louis Vuitton`s intellectual property office. This summer, I had the opportunity to do an internship in the Civil Enforcement team of Louis Vuitton`s Intellectual Property department. One of the best aspects of my internship was helping to prepare a response to a USPTO lawsuit against a pending Celine trademark application.
