Join Professor Horton for an accessible introduction from contract basics, including offers, acceptances, counteroffers and options, and defenses, to contract execution such as fraud, coercion and unscrupulousness. In lectures that demystify concepts and terms that can often seem intimidating to people outside of the fields of law, you`ll better understand (and navigate) the contracts of everyday life. Preet Bharara has spent much of his life investigating our legal system, pushing for improvement, and prosecuting those who seek to undermine it. Bharara believes in our system and knows it needs to be protected, but to do so, he argues, we must also acknowledge and allow the mistakes of our justice system and human nature. Bharara uses the many illustrative anecdotes and case stories of her eventful and impressive career – successes and failures alike – to shed light on the realities of the legal system and the consequences of action. Based on exclusive interviews with the Supreme Court justices themselves and other insiders, “The Nine” is a contemporary and provocative state of the Union about the most elite legal institution in the United States. Very useful background information on some aspects of the U.S. legal system, presented in an interesting and convincing way 1. Unlike other major course books, this book covered cases from 2017.2. Almost all conferences explained the main trade-offs behind certain cases that a good judge must recognize.3. The book led me to read real legal cases that are referenced (and I`m not a lawyer). Informative, educational and interesting.

The justice system no longer intimidates me. Before listening to this, I had no knowledge on the subject, now I have a new respect and fascination for him. Thank you You will begin with 12 lectures on litigation and legal practice, which provide insightful answers to many questions about the art and art of legislation. In the other 12 lectures, you`ll learn how criminal law and procedural law – an area of law dramatized by countless TV shows – actually work. Other conferences examine the civil procedures followed by courts to resolve substantive rights disputes and examine broader issues that each litigation system must address. And 12 lectures are entirely devoted to the stranger subject than the fiction of tort law. Here`s an exceptionally clear introduction to law that covers law school`s first-year majors and gives us a basic understanding of how it all works. Auditors will be introduced to all aspects of the legal system, from constitutional law and litigation to tort, contract law, property law and criminal law.

Feinman illuminates every discussion with many fascinating, scandalous and notorious cases. The city of Marshall is home to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, a place revered by patent attorneys for its speedy trials and massive fines. Marshall is inundated with patent attorneys who all find work as local voices for big-city legal teams that have to influence a small-town jury. One of the best is James Euchre. Do judges base their decisions on legal rules and principles, or do they decide cases based on what is fair on the facts of the case? Professor Eliason`s legal expertise in white-collar crime, combined with his experience as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, turns what would be dry legal lectures in smaller hands into insightful investigations into some of the greatest crimes in U.S. history, involving notorious figures such as financial fraudster Bernie Madoff and former Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling. This is the first (and only) “multi-faculty” course I have had in which all four professors were articulate, engaging, well prepared and simply entertaining.

The legal topics covered are varied, and the professors include both historical and current arguments and examples. “Reasoning” is particularly interesting because it not only describes the current environment, but also provides general information about what it was in the past and why it has changed. This is one of my favorite courses and I recommend it to anyone interested in law and/or our legal system. The judiciary in general, and the Supreme Court of the United States in particular, represent the most unusual and least understood branch of government of the Republic. Unlike elected executive and legislative branches, Supreme Court judges are appointed and serve during good behaviour.
